The author states that mental cybernetics is based on the consistent and the dependable way the mind works.
The science of mental cybernetics is the system by which one can use these laws of the mental world.
No matter whether the mind is creating success or failure, it is creating. It is not a question of whether you shall
create or not; it is a question of what you shall create.
The fundamental law of the science of mental cybernetics is this: As you think so you become. “As a man
thinketh in his heart, so is he. Your mind, like the principle of mind found universally around you is creative,
unlimited and exhaustless.
The author explains that the urge within you to create a good life arises from universal mind – that mind which is
being individually differentiated by you. To increase the degree of good you are experiencing, clear out self-
doubts and retrain your mind to think new thoughts for yourself. All that one needs to move life into a more
constructive path is a thought, which is correctly programmed for the good you wish to demonstrate.
Through mental cybernetics, one can step out of the shade of negation and false programming of the mind into
the light of affirmative living. One must realize that the responsibility to make changes in one’s life lies in what one
chooses to think.
The author feels that the subconscious is creative and must be trained. The subconscious mind retains the
data, which is programmed into it. By its very nature, it will mold you into your conscious image of yourself. Better
stated, the conscious mind is the director while the subconscious mind is the doer. As the programmer of the
subconscious mind, decide what you want in life. Program your new inner mind to be consistent with your desires.
Unless an individual feels he has a part in the circumstances of life, he will not know how to take part in
changing it. The author says to envision well-ordered, pleasant surroundings. Visualize oneself in the
environment that would make one happy. Emerson stated, “As fast as you conform your life to the pure idea in
your mind, that will unfold its great proportions”. Shakespeare stated, “Assume a virtue though you have it not”.
My Wage
From Door of Dreams
By Jessie B. Rittenhouse
Boston Houghton Mifflin Company
I bargained with life for a penny
And life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.
For life is a just employer
He gives you what you ask;
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn dismayed
That any wage I had asked of life,
Life would have willingly paid.
