This is one of my favorite books as the author declares that health is the foundation of beauty. She states
that before one can improve their health, one must understand what caused the present state of health.
Scientists have determined that the human body is composed of elements, which maintain the health of cells,
glands and organs. If any of these are missing, trouble will develop.
The good new is, that by supply the missing or depleted nutrients, the body can repair itself. Thousands have
repaired their health through nutrition. However, the greater the depletion or the longer the deficiencies have
existed, the longer it will take to recover.
The author recommends a detoxifying diet to cleanse and remove toxins from organs, glands, tissues and the
blood stream. This book gives advice on a three day, detoxifying diet to clear the intestines. Brown spots or
liver spots on the hands or face are a sign that toxins have piled up in the liver and intestines.
One detox diet given is as follows, from Dr. Nittler:
A diet of well, washed and chewed grapes or a diet of whole grapefruit and celery for 3 days. After that time,
raw fruit and vegetables plus vitamins are eaten for up to 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, gradually add protein to the
diet in order of ease of digestion: yogurt, then fish, fowl and lamb; finally veal and beef.
The author explains how the Balkans lives to a ripe old age of 100-125 by drinking a quart of yogurt daily.
Yogurt contains friendly bacteria, which act as an intestinal cleanser.
The importance of hydrochloric acid, HCL, to the digestive process is covered. One may not realize that too
little HCL will produce the same symptoms as too much. The media of the stomach is acid, and if it isn’t, there
are problems. Acid is required to break down proteins and minerals as well as destroy bacteria. If after drinking
fruit juice, the stomach sours did could indicate too little HCL. Other symptoms are gas and bloating about an
hour or two after eating and halitosis. Those with a CHL deficiency can take a tablet of HCL with pepsin.
The road to good health and beauty included protein, which is essential to living tissues and must be
replenished because it cannot be stored in the body very long. Protein, vitamins, minerals and amino acids in
food repairs and nourishes the cells.
Trace minerals are essential in maintaining cell metabolism and regulating glandular functions. These are
constantly being excreted and can only be restored via diet or food supplements. One way to get minerals is
through kelp, which also contains vitamins and amino acids.
